This 2007 Tour seems to be a grand cru. From a sportive point of view, we’re already pampered with the all fresh snatched victory of Cancellara. From a more technical view, the Tour is as thrilling.
Indeed, our american fellow members from Cyclingnews and Velonews could take several shots, really interesting.
eRecord groupset
First of all, the electric Record groupset components are in final testings in Cofidis team. After 4 years old of tests, we hope they will finally be available the next year.
On the previous versions, the battery was placed close to the front derailleur. The latest version integrates it with a specific Campagnolo bottle cage. Normally, this is the final version.
The Ergobrain is deeply modified: it has got an LCD screen and a joystick instead of the traditionnal buttons, rarely intuitive. Any date for an iPod or iPhone menu?
The levers look like the current ones, with a tiny difference: the shifter for lower speeds is shorter and narrower.
About the derailleurs, there is no important change. Only the front one is a bit tidier.
FSA Neo Pro Mega Exo
Full Speed Ahead worked this year on a new set of cranks for time trial. They are hollow and use the same manufacturing method as the K-Force so they do not have an alloy spine. They have been designed following a Finite elements analysis taking into account the racer power. Since the stress is different for the chain drive side and the opposite side, they are assymetrical.
The Q-Factor (distance axle/pedal) is 147mm which is 1.5mm more than the Record cranks. Claimed to be 880g, they will be sold at 700 euros including an FSA Mega Exo Ceramic bottom bundle. Five sizes will be available, from 170 and 180mm.
